The Sisterhood Family Support Initiative (SFSI) is A Sisterhood for Fatherless Daughters' family-support program created to help single mothers and their families navigate challenging circumstances, access resources, and move toward greater household stability.
Through individualized support, resource connections, referrals, and practical assistance, SFSI meets families where they are and helps mothers identify the support they need to move forward.
Support That Meets Families Where They Are
Sometimes families need more than information, they need someone to help them identify their needs, understand available resources, and connect them to meaningful support.
SFSI was created from ASFD's direct work with single mothers and families experiencing unexpected hardship. What began as a community response has grown into an intentional family-support initiative focused on helping mothers navigate immediate needs while strengthening their path toward stability.
Every family's circumstances are different. That's why SFSI takes an individualized approach rather than assuming every household needs the same type of support.
Who We Support
SFSI primarily serves single mothers and their households who are experiencing a challenge, transition, or circumstance affecting their family's stability or well-being.
Families do not need to participate in Bonding Time to request support through SFSI.
Support is based on individual household needs, available resources, program capacity, and eligibility for specific services or partner referrals.
How We Help
Individualized Family Support
We take time to understand each family's circumstances, immediate needs, and priorities so we can help identify appropriate next steps and resources.
Resource Navigation
Families may receive assistance identifying and navigating community resources related to basic needs, family stability, and other available services.
Referrals & Community Connections
When a family's needs extend beyond the services ASFD can provide directly, we work to connect mothers with trusted community organizations, service providers, and other resources.
Practical Assistance
When funding and resources are available, SFSI may provide direct assistance designed to help address an identified household need.
Follow-Up & Continued Support
Our goal is not simply to provide a resource and disappear. When appropriate, SFSI follows up with families to understand whether referrals were successful, identify remaining needs, and determine appropriate next steps.

Request Support
Complete our Family Support Request Form and tell us about your household and the type of assistance you are seeking.
Needs Review
Our team reviews your request to better understand your family's circumstances, priorities, and immediate needs.
Family Support Plan
When appropriate, we work with you to identify potential resources, referrals, or available assistance based on your family's needs.
Connections & Support
You may be connected with ASFD resources, community partners, external service providers, or available direct assistance.
Follow-Up
When appropriate, our team follows up to understand how the support or referral worked and whether additional navigation may be helpful.
