Our Story

Why Our Work Matters

How We've Grown

Where We're Going

Born From Experience. Built for Sisterhood.

A Sisterhood for Fatherless Daughters was created from a deeply personal understanding of what it means to navigate life without the consistent presence of a father.

Founded in 2023, ASFD began with a vision to create the kind of community many women impacted by fatherlessness had been missing: a place where their experiences could be understood without explanation, their stories could be shared without judgment, and healing could happen alongside women who understood.

What started as an idea for connection has grown into an organization focused on healing women, strengthening families, and building lasting sisterhood.

Fatherlessness does not always end when childhood does.

For many women, experiences surrounding a father's absence, abandonment, death, incarceration, estrangement, or emotional unavailability can continue to shape the way they understand themselves, build relationships, establish boundaries, trust others, and navigate adulthood.

Every woman's experience is different, and fatherlessness does not define who she will become.

ASFD creates opportunities for women to explore those experiences, recognize their strengths, build meaningful relationships, and determine what healing and moving forward look like for them.

ASFD began by creating spaces where fatherless daughters could gather, connect, and experience sisterhood.

As we listened to the women we served, our work evolved.

Bonding Time grew from community-centered experiences into a structured healing program designed to help adult women explore the impact of fatherlessness through guided conversations, reflection, personal development, and sisterhood.

Our work also revealed another need.

While supporting women, we saw the challenges many single mothers were navigating within their households. During a period of significant community need, ASFD expanded its support to mothers and families experiencing unexpected hardship.

That response became the foundation for the Sisterhood Family Support Initiative (SFSI), our family-support program focused on connecting single mothers and their households with resources, referrals, practical support, and community.

Today, these two programs allow ASFD to address both sides of our work:

Healing women through Bonding Time.

Strengthening families through SFSI.

Our vision extends beyond individual moments of support.

Over the coming years, ASFD is working to strengthen and expand our programs, deepen community partnerships, build sustainable resources, and reach more women and families while maintaining the sense of connection that has been at the heart of our organization from the beginning.

We believe that when women have opportunities to heal, build supportive relationships, and access meaningful resources, the impact can extend beyond one individual.

It can strengthen families.

It can influence future generations.

And it can create a sisterhood that lasts.
