Girl Talk

Empowerment Circles

Girl Talk Empowerment Circles is an 8-week cohort program for middle school (ages 11–14) and high school girls (ages 15–18) who are navigating father-absence, seeking connection, and striving to become leaders in their communities. Through weekly 60- to 90-minute sessions, participants engage in interactive discussions, peer-led activities, creative projects, and meaningful reflection—culminating in a shared showcase and leadership opportunity.

This program is ideal for after-school spaces, community youth centers, or school wellness programs looking to offer transformational experiences for teen girls.

Why This Matters

Teen girls facing father-absent households often carry layered challenges: emotional grief, identity questions, lowered self-esteem, and fewer models of leadership. Research on gender-responsive group formats shows that intentional “safe space” support models can significantly boost self-efficacy, connection, and leadership skills.

Girl Talk addresses these needs by centering on sisterhood, storytelling, creative self-expression, and leadership. By providing an emotionally safe and peer-supported environment, we create space for resilience, voice, vision, and growth.

Expected Outcomes (Year 1 cohort of 20 girls):

  • 20 girls will complete the 8-week program.

  • 100% of participants will report increased sense of sisterhood and school-belonging in post-program survey.

  • At least 80% will set and document a personal growth or leadership goal by program end.

  • On average, participants’ self-confidence scores will increase by one standard deviation (pre/post).

  • Participants will create and present a peer-led project (art, story, video) to their community.

To extend impact beyond the initial 8 weeks:

  • Graduates may become peer ambassadors or mentors, aiding future cohorts

  • The school or community partner may adopt a “Girl Talk Club” model with student-led sessions

  • Data and outcomes will support repeat funding and integration into school wellness or leadership frameworks
